Good and Bad of Self Publishing

Everyone always asks me "Why self-publish? Isn't it difficult to sell books in the stores and doesn't it look bad that everyone can do it?

There are good and bad things for self publishing. The downside is that you have to do all your own marketing, go to the bookstores and get them to put your book on the shelves, purchase your own copies and also contact the newspapers on your own to see if you can get a book review. The upside of self-publishing is that you don't have to spend years trying to find an agent that can get you in for an interview with a publisher. Also, you can get your finished work out to the public faster, you as the author retain copyrights and you get a higher royalty. Self publishing is not for everyone. This all depends on what your goals are and how much patience you have.

At Meriones Publishing, we do a bit more for our authors. We not only have a low fee, we create an author page, place you on Amazon.com, give authors a higher royalty and also perform some search marketing on your book and webpage to bring more readers to the author. We are the small publishing house with a personal touch!
